A Lasting Legacy, Rooted in Love

Three years after losing her husband, John (JT), to health complications, Anna found a meaningful way to honor his memory through the Parks Legacy Program.

After seeing the program advertised on Facebook, Anna knew it was a special opportunity to create something lasting in honor of her husband. She selected Veterans Park, just down the street from their home, because it was a place where John could have watched their grandchildren play.

Every detail of the memorial bench was chosen with John in mind. When he was on oxygen, the location near the parking lot would have allowed him to rest comfortably while still watching his grandchildren play. Now, that same spot serves as a place for family, friends, and other park visitors to pause and enjoy the space.

As the first person to select a bench through the Parks Legacy Program, Anna said the process was easy. Once the plaque information was finalized and everything got underway, the bench was installed in just three days.
For Anna, the bench is a way to honor the man she loved and ensure his memory lives on long after her time. Through the Parks Legacy Program, John’s legacy will continue in a place where families gather, grandchildren play, and new memories are made for generations to come.
