City of Box Elder customers have their refuse picked up on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week.
Services will not run on the following holidays, but will instead run on the following day:
New Year's Day
Memorial Day
July Fourth
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will run as normal. Thursday routes will go on Friday.
Christmas Day: All routes will run as normal.
Special requests (work orders) must be made by 3:30 p.m. of the day prior to service; requests received after 3:30 p.m. will be added to the following week's service run. Please contact Kieffer Sanitation at 605-342-5575 with any questions.
Kieffer Sanitation collects trash routes beginning at 6 a.m., customers are asked to set their trash out before this time to ensure pickup.
All trash must be inside the designated garbage tote.
Drivers will not pick up trash outside of designated tote.
All refuse totes must have a minimum 3-foot clearance around the tote.
Drivers will not service inaccessible totes.
All trash must be bagged & tied.
Drivers will not collect messes created by loose trash.

Construction materials - lumber, shingles, sheet rock, decking, siding, etc.
Yard Waste - customers must use designated yard waste totes (Contact City Hall for more information)
Concrete, Brick, Rocks, or Pavers
Lithium-ion Batteries
Car Batteries
Fluids used in Motorized Vehicles
Large Appliances
Appliances Utilizing Coolant - i.e. Window A/C's
Large Pieces of Metal, Logs, or Timbers
Liquid Paint or Stains
Hazardous Materials or Chemicals
Tires or Rims
Medical Waste not in Sharps Container
Large Furniture
Mattresses

Items eligible for pick up:
Furniture - Sofas, Chairs, Tables, Bookcases, Headboards, Nightstands, Dressers, Desks, etc.
Loose or Oversized Items - Greater than 3-4 inches in diameter or weighing more than 25 lbs.
Other Large Household Waste - Items that are customary to ordinary housekeeping operations.

Yard waste pickup service runs the 2nd Thursday of the month, May through October. All yard waste must be in a designated Kieffer Sanitation yard waste tote. Yard Waste is picked up free of charge. Please contact City Hall for more information and to have your complimentary tote delivered to your address.

No railroad ties or landscape timbers
Branches must be tied in 3-foot or less sections and weigh less than 25 lbs.
