For more than 80 years, the City of Box Elder and Ellsworth Air Force Base have shared a proud partnership that began during World War II and continues to thrive today. As we celebrate 84 years since the base became operational in 1942, we're honored to recognize this lasting connection during the 9th Annual Salute to Ellsworth.
Each September, our community comes together to celebrate that bond, honor the dedicated men and women of Ellsworth Air Force Base, and recognize the service and sacrifice of all active-duty military members, veterans, reservists, National Guard members, and their families from every branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Join us for a day of community, patriotism, and fun—and don't forget to bring your lawn chairs!

Friday, Sept. 11th
5:30 PM: Liberty Center YMCA - Color Me Red, White, and Blue 5K Run
Location: Liberty Center YMCA (401 Main St.)
Saturday, Sept. 12th
9:00 AM – 2:00 PM: YFS Harvest Festival
Location: Youth & Family Services’ Fullerton Farm (230 S. Ellsworth Rd)
9:00 AM – 2:00 PM: Wings and Wheels Car Show
Location: South Dakota Air & Space Museum (2890 Davis Dr)

4:00 PM - 7:00 PM: Salute to Ellsworth Event FREE activities start (petting zoo, face painting,
cotton candy, Raptors Center, cops n bobbers, paint the plow, etc.)
4:00 PM - 7:00 PM: Band Performance
4:00 PM - 8:00 PM: Food Trucks & Beer Garden
4:30 PM: Presenting the Colors/National Anthem Singer
5:00 PM: Centennial 2026 Box Elder Time Capsule Ceremony
7:15 PM: Pre-fireworks Glow Dance Party
